At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Explain why educators tend to have lower suicide rates compared to many other occupations
  • Recognize demographic factors that may influence suicide risk, including marital status, gender, and educational attainment
  • Discuss the potential protective effects of those demographic factors against suicide risk

Course Significance:

This course examines the relationship between occupation and suicide risk, with a focus on the protective factors associated with lower-risk professions. You will learn how factors including educational attainment, workplace environment, access to resources, and social connectedness influence mental well-being. Special attention is given to recognizing social and environmental factors that support healthy aging and overall quality of life.
