Welcome to the Documentation and Descriptive Writing for Employment Specialist training! We’re so glad you’re here.

This training is designed to help you sharpen an essential skill in our work: documentation. Strong writing doesn’t just check a compliance box — it helps us tell the real story of the people we serve, communicate clearly with our partners at OVR, and ensure quality services across the state.

Throughout this course, you’ll gain strategies to make your writing more accurate, objective, and impactful. You’ll review real-life examples, rewrite vague or subjective notes, and practice using descriptive language to reflect the skills and growth of those you support.

Before we jump in, take a moment to reflect on what you hope to gain from this session.

In this course, you’ll also see links to a shared Dropbox folder that includes example documentation, note templates, and helpful resources we’ll use throughout the course. Be sure to download these materials when prompted for future reference.

Let’s get started — and thank you for committing to improving the way we write, reflect, and support others through documentation.
