ECE 010: Early Care Orientation Online (ECOOL) v. 2021 (6 hours)
This 6-hour online course fulfills the mandatory orientation requirement for early care and education professionals in Kentucky. Successful completion of this course satisfies the Division of Child Care’s (DCC) new regulatory requirement for each center to ensure that every staff member has received training on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
ECOOL for Staff Purchase
This course purchase is for center managers needing to provide the ECOOL training for one or more new staff.
Once you complete the order, you will have a ‘group management’ tab. On your ‘group management’ page > click ‘user’ > ‘add one user’ > check the ‘ADD AND INVITE’ button > enter employee’s name and email address. They will then receive a welcome email, with instructions to get started.

Course Information
This 6-hour online course fulfills the mandatory 6-hour orientation requirement for early care and education professionals in Kentucky.
Orientation training consists of three modules:
- Health, safety & sanitation – 2 hours
- Recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect – 1 hour
- Recommended practices in early care and education – 3 hours
Students should have access to a printer for copies of supplemental handouts and other information that they may want to keep.
All activities must be completed in all three modules for a certificate to be awarded. Except for non-graded activities (NG); which pertain to your experiences or your work environment), activities must be completed at an 80% or better correct rate. Activities may be redone until at least 80% correct is achieved.
Upon successful completion of the course, a Recognition of Course Completion will display within the course. In addition, you personal training record will be updated in ECE-TRIS within 10 days.
