We have been talking a lot about what this is going to mean
for Craig and our family.  You know, this
has been quite a shock, Doctor.  I am not
sure where to turn.

(handing the Brown’s a basket with a book): I have a welcome
baby basket for you from the local Down syndrome society with a phone number to
call them. They leave these baskets with me to give to parents if their child
has Down syndrome.  I also have a book
for you.  I think you will find the book
and information very helpful.  Talking
with these other parents can be very reassuring for new parents – when you feel
ready, think about giving them a call.
