Reach Out to Local Medical Schools and Genetic Counseling Programs Copy

Medical and genetics programs nationwide are looking for quality content to teach their students that is current, up-to-date, and offers real world experience. Your organization can become a valuable resource if you reach out to them and contact the medical schools or genetic counseling programs in your area. They may also invite your organization to come speak on a panel about topics they are studying, or they may want you to provide the lecture for an entire class. Lettercase has created a module with input from the President of Association of Genetic Counseling Program Directors, and you can use this module to host a lecture at your local medical school.
Lettercase Training Tools for You:
Our Center offers a 1.5-2 hour online learning module that you can use with medical students and professionals, “PHT 201: Medical Professionals: Improving the Prenatal Diagnosis Experience and Long-Term Patient Outcomes with Accurate, Up-to-Date, and Balanced Information about Genetic Conditions” recommended by the Association of Genetic Counseling Program Directors: https://www.hdilearning.org/product/pht-201-prenatal-genetic-counselors/
We have every second year medical resident at Children’s Mercy Hospital come through our office for a half day to learn more about Down syndrome.
KCDSG Example
Operation House Call is a model program for medical schools and nursing schools, and they just released an on-line tool kit, which is $200 to access. It would help Down syndrome organizations to have this information to approach schools to potentially do something similar. It’s so successful here.
