Topic 1: The LRC Website

“It’s important to understand how to navigate the LRC website. We’ll review the website and how to locate statutes and regulations. You’ll get to practice your knowledge at the end of the lesson. First, let’s examine how the statutes and regulations are organized.”
The LRC website can be found at https://legislature.ky.gov/Pages/index.aspx. Both Kentucky Administrative Regulations (KAR) and Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) can be found under the tab “Kentucky Law”.
Within each KAR and KRS document, text of the sections may be divided into smaller components:
Subsections – denoted as (1), (2), (3), etc.
Paragraphs – denoted as (a), (b), (c), etc.
Subparagraphs – denoted as (1.), (2.), (3.), etc.
Subdivisions of subparagraphs – denoted as a., b., c., etc.
Subparts of subdivisions of subparagraphs – shown as i., ii., iii., etc.
It is important to understand how the KAR and KRS are laid out in order to be able to search through the documents more easily.
