What is the Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL)?

The mission of the Department for Aging and Independent Living is to promote the welfare, dignity, and independence of older adults, individuals with physical disabilities, and adults in need of a guardian.

The vision of the Department for Aging and Independent Living is that all Kentuckians, regardless of age or ability, will have access to the information and supports necessary to live independently.

The Kentucky Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) provides state and federal funding and administrative oversight of statewide programs and services for older adults and individuals with disabilities.

To ensure the quality of service, as it relates to the health, safety, and welfare of the individuals served; DAIL works in collaboration with Kentucky’s 15 Area Agencies on Aging and Independent Living, Community Mental Health Centers, Centers for Independent Living, other state departments, and a host of service providers and community partners.
