Transportation of Guardianship Individuals

Under no circumstances should guardianship staff transport individuals under guardianship.

Guardianship staff may, however, assist with arranging transportation for an individual under guardianship as long as the individual has funds or benefits to cover the transportation.

Individuals who receive Medicaid are eligible for medically necessary transportation. A list of service providers can be found at: need list

Requests and scheduling for Medicaid transport usually requires a 3 days advance notice.

When an individual resides in a facility that is regulated to provide 24/7 supervision and transportation, the facility is responsible for arranging transportation.

Refer to Guardianship SOP G-Field 31 (need SOP)

Notes: Trainer can give an example to how to schedule a Medicaid transport and billing process.
