“In 2022, the Kentucky General Assembly authorized CHFS to create a Medicaid program that addresses current needs for individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI) in Kentucky. The request stated the need for supported housing, supported employment, and medical respite.
After working with stakeholders, CHFS created the 1915(i) RISE Initiative to support individuals with a primary diagnosis of SMI or individuals with co-occurring SMI and substance use disorder (SUD).
In this lesson, we’ll review the 1915(i) RISE Initiative, the services it provides, and how it is different from Kentucky waiver programs.”
