FET 200: Beyond Fundamentals: Using Titles, Descriptions, and Other ECE-TRIS Fields to Set Your Training Up for Success (1.5 hours)

You’ve spent a lot of time planning an interactive training that leads to lasting workplace change. But entering your training information in ECE-TRIS can feel like an afterthought! In this 1.5-hour independent study session, you will learn how to use the updated tools in ECE-TRIS to set up your training for maximum accuracy and impact. You will practice using meaningful titles, comprehensive descriptions, training types, target audience, core content subject areas and other fields to help learners find you and ensure applicable trainings meet requirements to be considered for incentives like badging and KY All STARS. You will complete a short application activity and will leave with an impactful title, description, and set-up information you can use. This training is designed for credentialed trainers and provides 1.5 hours of “how to train other adults” clock hours.

This course requires the successful completion of a journal and an application activity before completion of the course. This independent study course allows you to work at your own pace, with different ways to access the materials and complete the final activity. The course requires internet access to be fully completed. The journal and application activity will be reviewed by your Regional Training Coach, and feedback will be provided within 3 working days of submission. 
After successful completion of the course, and all required activities, credit will be entered into ECE-TRIS within 10 calendar days. 


FET 375 Beyond Fundamentals: Engaging Participants’ Minds as Well as Their Bodies Using Total Participation Techniques (2 Hours)

Course Overview

  • Course will take approximately 2 (two) hours to complete
  • Upon successful completion participants will be awarded 2 how to train other adults training hours
  • Audience: Early Care and Education Trainers

Course Description

When we think of engaging participants, we usually think of engaging them in activities. This session will focus on strategies for using Total Participation Techniques (TPTs) that allow all participants to demonstrate, at the same time, active participation and cognitive engagement in the topic being studied. Throughout this training session trainees will learn what TPT’s are, how they can be used to support participation and engagement, and be provided tools to implement TPT’s into future trainings.

This training session includes active participation and requires satisfactory completion of an application activity in order to successfully complete the training.

FET 370 Beyond Fundamentals: Introduction to Developing and Facilitating Online Training

This training session is designed for Kentucky Credentialed Trainers who are looking for best practice recommendations on how to develop online early care and education training sessions.  This training session assumes that the learner has basic knowledge on how to create training plans and computer skills.
Successful completion of this course satisfies the Division of Child Care (DCC) regulatory requirement for cabinet approved online training development course for credentialed trainers who will be conducting online training or webinars.

FET 310: Beyond Fundamentals: Putting FET to Work (2nd Edition, 7 hours)

This training will be available for registration until 2/29/2024.  All course components must be completed by 3/31/2024.

Putting FET to Work is an online learning experience that helps you design a training plan on a topic of your choosing. Upon completion, you will have a new, custom training session that you can begin training on immediately.

  • No clock hours awarded upon completion (ECE or how to train other adult)
  • Audience: Trainers

Course Description

More and more often online training sessions are being requested and offered virtually. Virtual training sessions can be a great resource for both employers and employees in obtaining early childhood clock hours. Virtual learning has developed and evolved over the years, and there are many unique and engaging ways to offer credit for an online training session that go beyond watching a video and reading questions. This session will help identify different ways content can be presented, how to award credit, help the participant understand some basic principles for virtual training sessions, and review regulatory requirements for virtual learning.

This course satisfies the Division of Child Care (DCC) regulatory requirement for cabinet approved online training development course for credentialed trainers who will be conducting online training or webinars. 

In order to satisfactorily complete the session all content must be completed, and a final assignment must be submitted and reviewed for accuracy.  Upon successful completion of all components your ECE-TRIS record will be updated to confirm completion, however no clock hour credit will be awarded.

This session will help trainers strengthen their skills in identifying participant needs and developing impactful training content that leads to desired behavior change. We will walk through a problem-based solution for developing content that incorporates the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes staff need to change practice. During this online training session, you will have the opportunity to follow a trainer through all steps of planning a training session.
