Dr. Young
We
just have to make sure Craig is doing what all babies do – eating, sleeping,
peeing and pooping.
Mr. Brown
What
happens next? Do these tests hurt? Will we be with him?
Dr. Young
The
next step is to draw blood for the chromosome test. The nurses in the newborn
nursery will draw blood out of Craig’s arm, about a teaspoon. You can be there
if you like.
The
results will be back in about a week. Call my office to schedule a follow-up
visit for you and your wife and Craig at that time. In the meantime, I will
make sure the lactation specialist comes in to see you and I will see you again
tomorrow. I will also let the nurses and other health care providers know what
we talked about, in case you have questions for them. Try not to worry and
enjoy your son – he is a beautiful boy. If you have any concerns about how he
is doing, please let the nurses know.
Mrs. Brown
Dr.
Young thank you for talking to us and taking time to answer our questions.
Dr. Young
We will talk more tomorrow. Write down any questions and we will discuss them. If they are pressing, ask one of the nurses and they can get in touch with me. Now try to get some rest. See you tomorrow.
