There is a nationally recognized booklet designed for patients at the point of a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome, developed in collaboration with representatives of the major medical organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Society of Genetic Counselors.

This booklet, available from Lettercase: National Center for Prenatal and Postnatal Resources, is entitled Understanding a Down Syndrome Diagnosis, and is available at no-cost both online (in English and in nine other languages) and in print (patients and physicians can both request a complimentary copy or access the free online or iTunes versions.  This booklet describes what life is like, based on the most recent research, for families and individuals who have Down syndrome, with realistic full-color photography across the life span.
