Welcome to Week 5 of the Customized Employment Training Program! This week starts the implementation of Stage 1 of Discovery, focusing on home visits, familiar activities, community mapping, and connecting with supporters.
In practice, you will use office hours to review notes and observations, focusing on improving listening skills and ensuring your documentation accurately reflects the jobseeker’s strengths, preferences, and routines.
Take this week to refine your observation and reflection skills. These details are essential for building a complete, person-centered understanding.
Week 5 Learning Outcomes
By the end of Week 5, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate effective listening skills by accurately recording observations from home visits and familiar activities without interpretation or judgment.
- Document jobseeker strengths, preferences, routines, and conditions for success using person-centered language aligned with Discovery principles.
- Analyze home and community environments to identify supports, resources, and environmental factors that influence success.
- Describe and differentiate the roles of family members and other supporters in the jobseeker’s daily life.
- Review and revise Discovery notes based on reflection and feedback provided during office hours.
- Apply listening techniques to improve the quality, accuracy, and fidelity of Discovery documentation.
