“Bruce Banner has been appointed to guardianship and is in a nursing facility. He receives monthly income of $1,800.00 in SSA and $2,400.00 in retirement funds. Mr. Banner needs Medicaid coverage; however, his income exceeds the Medicaid limit. To qualify for Medicaid, he must have a QIT opened and funded. The Benefits Branch applied for Medicaid for him in August, so the QIT needs to be opened and funded in August. Fiduciary staff created the QIT in KYGFIS and funded it within the same month to qualify for Medicaid. Mr. Banner will have facility charges set up to be paid out of the QIT, and only his income will be deposited to the QIT.”
